Lease Approved for CEMEX Paiute Pit

February 18th, 2016

The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe approved a lease allowing expansion of mining operations at the CEMEX Paiute Pit outside Wadsworth, Nevada. The lease allows mining at an increased depth and onto adjacent greenfield lands. Benchmark Resources prepared the reclamation plan and reclamation cost estimate consistent with the requirements of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. Benchmark Resources also participated as a representative of CEMEX in a tribal information meeting. Benchmark educated tribal members about the lease and its financial and environmental implications. Benchmark Resources project manager, Andrew White, used a PowerPoint presentation and poster displays to provide details on the existing mining operation and changes that would result if the lease were approval. In addition, environmental analyst Christy Seifert prepared visual simulations depicting various views of the site in its reclaimed condition at the conclusion of mining. For more information about this project, please contact Andrew White at (916) 984-6303. Representative examples of the visual simulations for this project and others are found here.
